05Sine Terræ

Between Adelfia and Bitritto the land is table-grape canopies and fields nobody works. When the land is left, the recipes, the songs and the ways of doing go with it. Sine Terræ follows that abandonment in Puglia and elsewhere. Mala Aura, KM ZERO and Bari è una truffa grow out of it.

The core is a census of abandoned farmland in the historic centre and the periurban edge of Adelfia: more than 20 km of country roads walked, over 130 hectares mapped, over 400 parcels surveyed, over 300 landowners contacted. Each parcel is georeferenced with cadastral data, ownership, surface, cadastral map and a photo of the site, as a tool open to everyone. The causes we name: fragmented ownership, land policy, new ways of living and new aspirations, low farm income, little entrepreneurship.
